Laura Mackenzie Hunt

After 29 hours of labor, Amanda & Lee welcomed their sweet baby Laura into the world. 8 lbs, 11 oz, 21 inches long. On Saturday, Alison and I met at the hospital bright and early to visit the new family of 3.

Amanda looked terrific. I could tell she was tired, but I marveled that after little sleep, 29 hours of labor and no shower, her hair was still shiny and gorgeous and Pantene commercial ready. I don't see how that's fair, but it is true.

Laura was wheeled in shortly after our arrival and she.was.precious. She was hungry and bawling her little eyes out, but I picked her up and she quieted right down. ohmygoodness. That melted my heart completely. And bizarely almost made me cry. I think it must have been the excess hormones and female energy in the room. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

I mean, please. Look at how she's looking at me. I can't breathe a little.

She was giving us some pretty amazing faces.

And there was plenty of this:

The hands. A-mazing.

She was pretty into Dad...

UPDATED:
I can't believe I forgot to mention the best part of the day. Speaking of Laura being pretty into her dad, he is pretty into her as well. He told us that after she was born and she and Amanda were resting, he headed out to run a couple of errands. He said he kept looking at everyone on the street and wanting to tell everyone, "You don't even know what today is! You're just going to the gym, but my DAUGHTER was just born today! You're just trying to hail a cab, but my daughter was born! You don't even know what today is!!"

I thought that was a pretty awesome way to describe it. And pretty much exactly how I would feel too.

You know what else I loved? When I told Geoff about Lee's reaction at brunch later that day, I'm pretty sure his eyes looked a little watery. He thought it was awesome.

Welcome to the world, Laura! We are so excited you're here!

Special Delivery

We got a little special something in the mail yesterday. Remember Kim & Joel? That sweet couple whose wedding we shot and who gave us a sunflower to grow? Well....they sent us a LOVELY surprise in the mail!

Lets push in a little closer shall we?

"The Date Box?!?" I exclaimed. Um.....yes please. Tell me more! We opened it to find it filled will all sorts of amazingness!

Amazing.

And these...

What?! Truffles?! Clearly they haven't heard about the Great Diet of 2010 that is taking place at our house. But I can ration these out, right? One truffle won't kill me. Right? Right?!?

Um. Clearly, this will also be trouble.

And how adorable is this?

Kim remembered from a post that I needed a small storage container for pesto. So she sent me one! SO THOUGHTFUL. It's the cutest.

And her favorite kids book that reminds her of us. She's a teacher. Haven't read it, but I so can't wait!

And this uber snuggly amazing blanket.

Seriously? That was maybe the most amazing care package ever. Thanks so much guys! I can't wait to dig into all of this! Even if I do have to ration the truffles.

Happy Friday!

Stop It Right Now

This kid is:
1) genius (possibly literally)
2) adorable
3) going to be added to my list of boyfriends (which is basically comprised of males under the age of 5 or over 80).

Another Sunday in the Park

A gorgeous day on Sunday. We shot a wedding on Saturday and that can always wear you right out. So we slept in a little on Sunday and had our normal bagel & coffee in our little neigborhood park and had a great talk. It had been a busy week, so we had not had a single weeknight together. It was good to talk.

Then we hopped on our bikes and headed into the city to meet our friends in Central Park to celebrate my friend Megan's birthday. She has had a year full of tough health stuff, but is ever-positive and is amazing, both in her attitude and spirit. And in her recovery. So we were all about celebrating the end of a hard year and the beginning of a great new one.

We got there and as soon as Raul & Anne showed up with their adorable son David, I got a little shutter happy. Couldn't even help myself.

Amanda also couldn't help herself.

Alison brought her latest knitting project for me to do a mini photo shoot for her blog. How cool is this? Bet you could commission her to make you one....or any number of other amazing knitted things.

There were some kids right next to us playing soccer. I love it when kids squat like this.

Joel having less luck...

After the park, we headed over to Cilantro on the West Side for some dinner with Alison. While we were waiting for a table, I snapped this shot. I think it's funny that it says "warning" on the back of the chair. Which seems totally appropriate for how babies can be in a high chair.

We had a lovely time. Just great and REAL conversation. Which we all just appreciate so much. And the light was amazing. How stunning is my best friend? Again, I got a little shutter happy. I'll spare you and only share 3...

Yay for summer. And a summer that has yet to be brutally humid. Yay for good friends. Yay for eating outside. Yay for pretty pictures. Yay for margaritas.
