Paparazzi Magnets

So you know how we are so old and lame? Normally this is 100% true. This past Saturday, however, we were total rock stars. We had our engagement photo session with our 2 AWESOME photographers who are shooting our wedding and who are Geoff's (and now my) great friends. Carla Ten Eyck and Matt Wagner are completely awesome and totally talented and even managed to make us look like we are the Pretty People.

We had an awesome day, starting at the Met and taking all kinds of pictures, then working our way down to the Village - no, Soho, no, the Meatpacking District, no Soho - (we changed our minds about 7 times in the cab on the way down there). We finally settled on the Meatpacking District (EXCELLENT idea, Mr. Wagner) cause the light was gorgeous on those cobblestone streets. After changing outfits in the cab (go ahead, you may be impressed/horrified), dumping our stuff at Starbucks, discovering Geoff had lost his iPhone, realizing he left it in the cab, locating the iPhone - still in the cab - and with the iPhone on it's way back to us in the self same cab from the Upper East Side (no idea how it got there so fast), we finally headed out to make the best of the light that was left. It was fairly cold, but we enjoyed it anyway.

I realized its a lot harder to be a model than I thought. And Geoff and I realized we need to do something besides stare at each other and kiss all day. We've only seen Carla's shots so far, but they are awesome and we can't wait to see Matt's too. Also, it gives us lots to think about and practice for pictures on our wedding day.

Moments before the kill...

If pictures speak a thousand words.....well, I guess this one wouldn't really have all that much to say. However, the interesting thing about this photo is that it was taken about an hour and a half before Geoff and I became a couple. It was August 5, 2005 at a joint birthday party for our friends Megan and Marisa. That's me, obviously, and my roommate at the time, Diane, and there's Geoff, with his back to us. Little did we know, it would be the last photo taken of us as single people. We had no idea what was about to happen... but I think it's safe to say we were both secretly hoping for it, even at the moment this picture was taken. So maybe it's worth a couple words after all...

Happiness and Home Goods

Registering takes a long time. And as much fun as Geoff thought he'd have with The Gun, it will still wear you right out. We have barely added anything to our registry, but we did have a fun time looking at things and sipping mimosas at the Crate & Barrel/Real Simple Weddings event. Or maybe it was the mimosas that made it so difficult. At any rate, we did manage to enjoy it, and there are SUPER fun things to look at. Like the world's tiniest cup and saucer that we saw at Bed Bath & Beyond. We didn't actually register for it, because much as I would like to be, I am not cool enough to make espresso at home with anywhere near the regularity you need to in order to own cups like this. Maybe after our Italian honeymoon I will attempt it. But in the meantime, just holding it made me happy.

So it begins...

So the game is afoot. We get to start doing some registry shopping starting with a really cool Crate and Barrel + Real Simple Weddings party in NY tomorrow. Talk about powerful marketing. Apparently they're going to shut the store down for a bunch of engaged couples with all kinds of gifts and such. They're even serving free mimosas! So smart of them. Gonna try to hold Kate back! Yeah who am I kidding.
